Our Story

Vest Family Farms is really a happy accident in a way. We started our journey while trying to find a pork producer that we could buy from. For several weeks we looked for a grown animal to have processed. We thought then that we would get a few weaner pigs in the spring to raise for meat ourselves. Both these options proved very difficult in our area. We did manage to get a few young hogs for meat, but the sources were not sustainable. We ultimately purchased breeding animals from farmers who were getting out of raising pigs. From there we started breeding and raising our own animals. These animals are raised on pasture. We put them to work clearing blackberries, tilling the soil, and foraging for wild fruit and nuts.

Our Values & Mission

Our goal is to provide local communities with delicious, clean and ethically raised pork; all while improving soil health, strengthening ecosystems, and healing landscapes that have been overgrown, overgrazed or otherwise depleted of agricultural diversity. Our mission is to provide a dependable, local, and ethical source of pork product for our local community.
